This catalog presents the Gallic, Celtic and Massalière coins from the National Archaeological Museum of Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
This prestigious collection is made up of 5,405 coins from the peoples of Gaul and the Celts of Europe. The sets of coins come mainly from archaeological excavations and discoveries of treasures, which bring a unique knowledge of the geography and economy of the Celtic and Gallic peoples.
The presentation of this collection, unpublished since the 19th century, is organized in 143 color photographic plates. The color reproduction of the coins makes it possible to appreciate in all its details the incredible skill of the Celtic and Gallic engravers and the richness of their artistic and creative imagination. Each coin is accompanied by a brief descriptive notice indicating its numismatic references and its place of discovery.
